Ceramic work surfaces

Ceramic work surfaces are one of the toughest surfaces available – virtually impossible to stain, scratch, burn or corrode. These astounding physical properties have been the foundation of a thriving tiling industry for millennia, but using the same material on a larger scale is a relatively new idea. Stronger material and more advanced techniques, means that this material can be worked more efficiently, and it is now seen as the future of the kitchen and bathroom worktop industry.

Ceramic surfaces are built for the customer – They are highly resistant to liquids (with an absorption level of almost zero) meaning almost any cleaning agent can be used without the fear of discolouration, corrosion or staining. Ceramic is extremely scratch and heat resistant – so it will not burn or mark if hot pans are placed directly onto worktops. So ceramic is the material of choice for anyone who needs a high-quality and beautiful finish, but one that is also low maintenance and easy to keep clean.

Ceramic surfaces are built for fitters and designers – Ceramic material is produced and supplied in standard size slabs, similar to quartz, but with a wider range of thicknesses (6mm, 12mm and 20mm) – making this material easier to transport and simpler to work with. In addition, smaller thicknesses make ceramic so lightweight, it can be applied with equal ease to both horizontal surfaces, and importantly, vertical surfaces (doors and units). Ceramic slabs are composed entirely of natural materials and contain no harmful substances – making it environmentally friendly and completely recyclable. All of which makes Ceramic the most practical choice for the kitchen designer or fitter.
